Absent Work vs. Missing Work

Absent Work

  • Absent work is work that is either newly assigned work or work that is collected on a day when you were not in school.

  • When you return, turn in any work that was due or look on Schoology/ask Ms. Gorder for new work that you need to complete and turn in. You have 10 days from the due date to turn in work.

  • If you are out longer than five days in a row, meet with me and we can customize a plan for you. That’s a lot of work to miss from all 6 classes, and I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed and like you’re drowning! We’ll figure it out :)

Missing Work

  • Missing work is when you are in school but your work is not.
  • Your grade will be a 0 (zero) in Schoology. It will also say “missing” next to it.
  • But! All is not lost!
    • During each Notebook √, students have the opportunity to get Second Chance Credit for 1 missing assignment.
    • Notebook √s are also a way to repair damage from any missing work. Think of it as double credit for work that should have already been done in the first place. But, if you have missing work (0%s), you get an opportunity to get the work done in time for the Notebook √ and add an A to boost your overall class grade.
